Laura Gunn's Magnolia Lane

Winter doldrums?
Not if you wake up to this!
A ray of sunshine and warmth
to melt the snow away.
Spring is on the way!

Laura Gunn's latest collection Magnolia Lane is a real stunner.
Her dogwood stripe in olive (above)
from her earlier Poppy collection
ties in beautifully and illustrates
how I think
we all have
an internalized color palette
that comes through
in all that we do
if we listen
to the colors that we love.

I once read, that when decorating,
if you buy what you love,
it will all go together
in the end.
(sorry I don't know who to
credit this quote to)
and yes,
expect to see more
of her painted canvas solids!

Simply Beautiful

I've got a soft spot for great artwork. Especially vintage original textile paintings.
This piece was from the early 60's (not the colors, they're my own twist).
A lot of times I get the question when showing unusual layouts
(the stems are at one selvage reaching across the full width of the fabric to the other selvage) :
That's cool but what'll I do with it?
I've usually got a few ideas ideas but what I really love is collaborating with others and the creative surprises that brings.
These are from the very talented Trenna Lange.
Simply Divine!
A simple skirt
simply stretched and stapled over a canvas frame
beading  and a basic trapunto technique make for a
simply elegant statement pillow.
So what would you make?
leave a comment
and 3 of you will win 2 yds. ea.
drawing on Fri. 1/28
(and I'd love to see what you do with it)

New Color Stories

.....and like any good story
it may have one lead character
but more than likely it's a cast of characters.
They like to hang together as
their friendships grow, evolving over time.

Our color stories do that too,
evolving over time from one release to another.
Updating and building momentum as color trends evolve,
taking on a life of their own.
Just like a good story.

for these and more click here for
our new release!

The Darling of the latest up-to-the-minute color trends.
Expect to see the influence of these colors
EVERYWHERE.
Through our mind's eye,
our collective consciousness adjusts over time
and
sees the world through this cooler side of the color wheel.

Colors of the earth and city:
rustic, earthy, weathered and worn.
Seriously hip.
Casually chic.

Happy bright vivid colors
contrasted against the deepest brown:
Jet Brown
(a warmer alternative to black)
what's not to like?!
