Now for today's color story:
You could call this color story neutrals but I think there's so much more to it. This is the one story that really speaks to the time we're living in. In rocky times it says stability. It's solid but not stodgy. It's the wise investment in pieces that will never go out of style. It's the palette that can be cutting edge new or just plain edgy.
as we speak these just landed in my mailbox
personally I think to make this palette work, it's all about the contrast between the shades. If I want a combination to "pop" and not look drab it's my preferred tweaking technique. But then again that's personal.
note the cream "almost white" in these. Trust me it's intentional.
What's your thoughts on this timely yet timeless color story?
leave a comment and you could win a yard of all the
Urban Grit prints pictured above!
Winner to be announced next Wednesday!
So very sophisticated! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI like this, it is different from my usual bright, pink, etc stuff that I like. The colors look so good together and I bet a lot of them would work as a neutral with other colors too! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI like it too. I agree with you; it fits the times in which we are living. But it also has an upscale Dia de los Muertos feel to it, too, that's not kitschy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway; I'm loving this series of fabrics!
Very gritty! I really like the subdued tones and tough but chic patterns.
ReplyDeleteVery fitting for modern ant classic sewing too, the pattern in the foreground is timeless.
ReplyDeleteLove the mixture of colors and the theme! Definitely loving all the different MM fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteI love these colors, and agree, so much more than just "neutrals".
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway, thanks!
I agree, as well. I love all the bright color popular these days, but you also need a really good base to go from. These are a perfect example of how to be modern without a separate wardrobe for each new season.
ReplyDeleteThis is a colorstory that I like because it is a modern take on neutrals. There are several neutrals quilts that have caught my eye lately that would look great in this palette. Thanks for the chance to win this colorstory bundle.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! These color stories just get better and better and every single one has been amazing in it's own way. I love this one especially!!
ReplyDeleteEach week I think I've found my favorite color story and then the NEXT color story comes out and I love it even more! Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Great for Day of the Dead.
ReplyDeleteTotal grit. Almost steampunk.
Very modern fabrics. I love them!
ReplyDeleteI just love those fabrics, especially the skulls I see peeking in the stack of bolts. I would love to win these!!!

Love this gray because it is not a true gray, more of a taupey grey. It looks great with the other colors in the prints!
ReplyDeleteI want to see a runway show where high-fashion models take to the catwalk carrying bolts of these fabrics.
ReplyDeleteLove brown and black together!!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white combinations.Modern and sophisticated at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI love these. They are so funky. Ooo, the things I could do with them.... x

ReplyDeleteThere is a hip sophistication to these colors, modern, edgy, and yet it has this rebelious gypsy feel to it at the same time. My mind is running a mile a minute with all the fantastic creations that can be made with these! I love how the creams/whites make the other hues pop!
ReplyDeleteThose skulls are just in time for crafting for Dia de los Meurtos and the additional combos are stunning.

ReplyDeleteso i apparently love all colors. :) there hasn't been a fabric combo that you've put up that i don't love. :)
ReplyDeleteLove these prints! I could use some in a quilt I'm currently planning!
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting that all the colors can be called neutrals, but the way they contrast with one another is too dynamic to be called neutral. I like it!

ReplyDeletenow THIS is something I can get into. I love the way the palette almost mocks the playfulness of the prints. It's that little surprise--the unexpected in something that only seems demure from a distance but upon closer inspection has a wicked sense of humor.♥
ReplyDeleteIt has livingroom written all over it! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI really like the color combination. Our couch is that same hard-to-define brown and I've always loved the way colors change when placed near it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so crazy about the skulls, but that is probably a generational thing, because I can think of a lot of younger women who would be.
Thanks for the giveaway.

Can't go wrong with black! I like picking the "black diamond" or "hematite" alternative that is a great neutral when gold or silver is not floating your boat. I am loving the grey that is popping up too!
ReplyDeleteColors reminds me of last day of autumn and beginning of winter days grey purple and white
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI´m a grey, mud, and dirt color wearing person, when it comes to clothes. Accesories can´t be pink, tuquoise and orange enough. This collection is perfekt for me. Let me win!
I love the browns and grays in this color story!
ReplyDeleteBeen sewing clothes for my 3 year old for a little over a year now, always love your fabrics. I recommend them to those that want me to make their little ones clothes, too! Keep up them coming!
ReplyDeleteI think this would be a great set to have in your stash. They would serve as a basis for a lot of other things. I'd like to see the skull fabric done without the knitting and sewing needles. My son is asking for things made with skulls/ pirate theme. I'd also like to see a color story based on the birdsong fabrics. It seems to me that there are a lot of colors in those prints that don't have corresponding fabrics in the collection. As an online shopper, its always nice to have someone put the colors together for you.
ReplyDeleteLove it
ReplyDeleteLove these colors! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!!!!!
