Behind the scenes with Robin!

Brief intro to who you are / what you do for Michael
Miller
I’m in sales in the MFG division – I
work with small local designers as well as manufacturers/designers who sell to
the majors and everyone in between. I have no shame, will work with
anyone with style.
What’s your favorite piece of work that you have created, your
favorite project or your favorite part of the work day?
I love the excitement of finally
meeting someone I have worked with for months, sometimes years, via email
and/or phone. Sometimes I cry, and I always hug. Also love seeing
our prints on our customer’s websites and even better when it’s on the street…
I’ve stopped people to introduce myself and tell them how great they look. I also love working with
a designer, sometimes starting out with small orders, and watching their
business grow…all of a sudden they are ordering hundreds or thousands of yards
at a time.
What are you working on at the moment?
Recovering from back to back trade
shows, my other favorite thing to do. Tons of follow up!

What are your goals for the future, both work wise and
life?
I want to work with every designer
that ever participated on Project Runway. In life? I want to do a
headstand on my own.
What are you doing when you’re not creating or at work? What
hobbies do you have?
I can’t get enough of our new
neighborhood. We left Manhattan 3 years ago to move overseas (to
Brooklyn) and we’re still riding around on our bikes, discovering new places to
hear music and have a great meal. Love yoga and running (really speed
walking) around the track.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I’m shy
Do you have any favorite blogs/magazines you read?
Obsessed with Honestly WTF, Refinery29, and nothing beats a great fashion mag like Elle, Vogue, and In Style where
I can rip out pages I like.
What else should we know about you and your work?
I am really dedicated to my peeps –
nothing is too much to ask and I will move mountains for my customers,
especially those who ask politely and say thank you.
Do you have any tips or inspiring words for others?
It’s OK to not know the answer to
everything. Learning is fun.
Do you admire any artists / photographers / people?
Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe,
Paul Strand, Jim Marshall, and anyone who photographed The Stones and The
Beatles
What is your favorite…
Color: black
Animal: leopard
Season: summer
Vacation spot: the beach, preferably in the Mediterranean. Or
Coney Island.
