I have been
quilting since 2008 and run a small business selling my quilts and
patterns. I'm as obsessed as one could get about patchwork and
sitting for hours to sew it up together. I consider myself
self-taught, but also feel quilting is in my blood. I've received a
few tips (and a few quilts) gifted from my grandmother and watched endless
video tutorials on YouTube and other blogs from my early years.
I host quilt
alongs on my blog often, and have hosted quilt alongs for sewing related
companies such as Coats and Clark, Havel's Sewing and Bari J. Most
recently I organized the making of three quilts with the help of almost fifty
different quilters to gift to a fellow quilter whose home was destroyed in the
Paradise, CA fires this past November. I love quilting, I love my
fellow quilters and I'm passionately in love with fabric.
I currently live
in north Alabama with my family. You can picture me there with my
house tucked in the woods, sitting behind my sewing machine and sewing the days
away.
What was your first sewing project?
I was in 7th grade home economics class, around
1995, and made a couple of throw pillows and a pair of pajama
bottoms. It was all a hot mess, but I LOVED it!
What other hobbies do you enjoy?
I’m almost always deeply involved in some novel or
another. Reading is my fave! I also love to travel and
hike to see beautiful landscapes. I like to embroider and crochet
when I can.
What is your favorite color?
It’s hard to pick a favorite! I guess I lean towards
jewel tones and navy blue. When it comes to fabric though, I’m in
love with low volume prints and can’t seem to make a quilt without them.
Where is your dream vacation?
When I was a girl I dreamed of visiting the Grand Canyon and
Hawaii and was able to go to both as an adult. Most recently I
dreamed of Scotland and was able to go there this past year. There
are not any current dream vacations, but I’m sure inspiration will hit
soon. 😉
Who taught you how to sew?
I’m self-taught. I learned from doing, and books,
online tutorials and Youtube videos. My grandmother also showed me a
thing or two.
What food could you eat everyday?
This changes often, but right now I’m totally addicted to those
jalapeno white cheddar puffs from Simply. It’s gotten a bit out of
hand, actually. I’m still a 12-year-old when it comes to
food. Hide your puffs from me, people!
What do you want to be doing in five years?
I’ve got two kids in college right now and I’d like to see that
done and go back to school myself.
