If you're getting involved with some of the Pantone quilt challenges, here are fabrics we think will work perfectly... they all have that celestial, ethereal feeling too!

If you're interested in joining the fun, here's a link to the Pantone Quilt Challenge 2018 hosted by Rebecca of Bryan House Quilts and Sarah of No Hats in the House.

Have fun and we can't wait to see what you create!

Behind the Seams with Lily Ashbury!

Stephanie Carter of Lily Ashbury Design
Vancouver, BC Canada
Hi, I'm Stephanie and I basically live to make things. I started my creative life as an illustrator and over the years I have created art for everything from food packaging, magazine ads, and dinnerware to stationary and home decor. And of course I love to design fabric. I do all of my designing from my warehouse studio in Vancouver, BC. I am often accompanied by my little Westie friend, Rosie.

Q: What's your favorite piece of work that you have created, your favorite project or your favorite part of the work day?
A: One of my favourite things to do is create mood boards for inspiration. At the start of every design project I create visual collage pages that I tack up around my desk to inspire me. I also like to choose appropriate music to go with my design ideas. I think of it kind of like wine pairing with your dinner, only music pairing with your design vision.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I am working on some little project ideas for my soon to be released fabric collection called "Isabella". I am not an expert at sewing but that doesn't stop me :)

I am also finalizing my take on a French Country fabric collection.
Q: What are your goals for the future, both work wise and life?
A: I have a love of collecting vintage things. I dream of traveling through Europe with my husband and plucking beautiful things from small town flea markets. We visited the Paris fleas and we are hooked!

Q: What are you doing when you're not creating or at work? What hobbies do you have?
A: My husband is the cook in the family (I consider myself very lucky) and he loves to entertain. My spare time is often spent with friends and family hosting dinner parties in a chaotic kid filled household.

Q: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
A: I'm also very much a businesswoman. I own two other companies: Image Zoo and Art Print Club. I wear many different hats and I approach business with as much enthusiasm as I do my creative endeavours.

Q: Do you have any favorite blogs/magazines/IG feeds that you follow or read?
A: Some of my favorites are here:
Poppytalk
Print Pattern
The Jungalow

Q:  Where else can we find you?
Q:  What else should we know about you and your work?
A: I'm a bit ADD in terms of my style. I like to experiment and love re-creating myself this way.

Q: Do you have any tips or inspiring words for others?
A: "Never give up your creative passion. It is something that you can always draw upon for joy through good times and bad. It can be a real lifeline at times, so nurture it."

Q: Do you admire any artists / people? (famous or not!)
A: Too many to list really.

Q: What is your favorite....
Color: This seems to change regularly but I keep coming back to red
Animal: Pigs (because the smile)
Season: Spring and Fall
Vacation Spot: Palm Springs
Food: Peanut Butter and Cambazola (but not together!)
