PROJECT OF THE WEEK 4/13/20
Michael Miller Monday
Hey fabric fans! While we are all staying safe at home Michael Miller fabrics will be continuing to provide you with fun, inspiring, and creative content. We will be putting out a featured pattern of the week every Monday! You can find the free project instructions on our website! ClICK HERE
This week is BASIC WEEK! And the featured pattern is the vibrant Pixelated Cityscape Quilt by Rob Appell. Finished quilt dimensions are 70"x70". It was created using our Sew Colorful Cotton Couture Bundle and the Frosty Marble Hash Bundle.
This is a super simple technique using half square triangles as color tiles to create any picture with fabrics. On our Youtube Channel you can enjoy an easy to follow tutorial by Rob Appell that walks you through the steps of making this quilt. The quilt was inspired by the New York City Scape designed by Susan Emory.
This technique developed organically in a 2 hour sewing challenge. Rob and his team were given 2 hours and 2 bundles of basics to create a quilt top. They realized with basic shapes they could recreate any design. Michael Miller Fabrics had just launched the Sew Colorful program to help people with color theory and this became the perfect pallet or this quilt. Rob added in Fairy Frost, Marble and Hash Dot basics to enhance the textural pallet. Some of the best quilts are built off of basics and this technique could not be simpler.
We took the finished quilt out for a spin and had a blast letting in soar in the wind.
We are featuring our basics all week long on our "Making it Fun" Youtube channel. First up is this pixelated quilt tutorial! Watch below and subscribe HERE for all the latest content.
Give this technique a try! We'd love to see what you create! Share your photos with us by posting your creations on social media and tagging @michaelmillerfabrics or e-mailing photos to marketing@michaelmillerfabrics.com
STAY SAFE! HAPPY SEWING AND REMEMBER TO KEEP #MAKINGITFUN
